Two out of Three WordPress Websites Go Down
Today, Sunday, August 28, 2022, our Passively Living lifeline goes down! David sends a new team member to davidpmccarty.com to complete sign-up and the site doesn’t load. WHAT??? Yes, our WordPress site is down.
Just like many of you, we still consider ourselves a beginner. I (Amanda), am still learning WordPress, plugins, Web Design, etc. Although I am more knowledgeable about it today in comparison to when we started in 2021, there’s still a lot to learn to become fully independent.
Additionally, we promised our team that we will give them the most user-friendly, cost-efficient options to start their online business. Therefore, we will forever be learning new software and products.
Three Sites Down
In total, we own three domains: www.davidpmccarty.com, www.sealifevacations.com, and www.passiveincomedrivenlife.com; all three are WordPress websites, and all three are hosted by Bluehost.
Passively Living or www.davidpmccarty.com is our primary, most important website. This site is focused on learning affiliate marketing as a beginner. This is where we drive our traffic sources and post our content displaying our brand. If the site is not accessible, that is a very bad thing.
SeaLife Vacations or www.sealifevacations.com, is our travel agency. I decided to join David and help with Passively Living, I wanted to be able to earn passive income to be able to travel to all the places I promote. Don’t get me wrong, I would travel anytime for any reason, however, if you want to sell travel successfully, personal experience is key. SeaLife Vacations was established as a traditional home-based travel agency; when I joined Passively Living, I planned to use this site and experience as a way to coach our team members on how to implement the knowledge from Freedom Breakthrough 2.0 into other niches. I am still building this blog site to showcase our Full-Service Travel Agency and Our Preferred Partners with Travel Affiliate Links.
Third, we have My Passive Income-Driven Life or www.passiveincomedrivelife.com. This site is set to “Coming Soon” as it will be operated like Passively Living differing only by the Products used. For example, Passively Living uses Click Funnels; My Passive Income-Driven Life will use Systeme.io. This site is in and will remain in test mode until we are confident, we can coach you through the full process. It is also hosted by Bluehost as well but under a completely different account.
[SUNDAY MORNING PANIC MODE]
Over the last week, most importantly the previous twelve hours I have made changes to this WordPress site. We've been learning more about Thrive Leads, Rank Math, Click Funnels, Get Response and integrating with API, adding DNS records, etc. We've been testing different ways to publish content, build forms, widgets, etc. So, I’ve made lots of changes and my first thought was “WTF have I done!!!”
I bypass Bluehost and go to your WordPress account, it’s like our site never existed.
I use different browsers; google.com NO CONNECTION, bing.com NO CONNECTION!!!!
[SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMM]
I return to Bluehost, from our Bluehost dashboard, I click on my website link and again IT WILL NOT LOAD!!! It just lags…. you know that annoying turning circle, like I am working on it but… just wait!
Finally, I get the WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH a 502 Proxy Error… Not good, but at least I have a way to search for a solution. So to google I go.
I google search the error; Bluehost knowledge is at the top of my results, and I click to open. Bluehost knowledge was very easy to navigate, troubleshooting provided step-by-step written directions with pictures! This gave me the confidence I needed to attempt to troubleshoot my error. I follow the instructions, using both written and pictures to start a debugging but I become inpatient and decide to use the Bluehost 24/7 support via chat (I hate phone calls).
Within seconds I am live chatting with a REAL SUPPORT PERSON!
Less than ten minutes later BOTH SITES ARE WORKING!

1219 PM – Verification Successful
1220 PM – Copy and Paste my Error Information; Support starts addressing my issue
Support requests me to stay connected while working on my issue and remains in contact every two minutes so I know they are still working.
1229 PM – Both sites are working
1230 PM – Support sends a link to both sites to verify they are functioning.
1231 PM – Chat ended and Survey Completed
